If anybody ever asks me where they should start listening to these lecture series, via Spotify, Im going to tell them to start here, as opposed to chronologically. Although, this may be more appropriate if thier background is more Hegel/Hiedegger and less Freud/Jung. I think this series better acclimates you to the language set and concepts within, so youre be less confused listening to the first two chronological sets, the split subject and anxiety.

Outta curiosity, what level are these classes? Undergrad 300?

Good call!

I usually teach Lacan at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum, though I often lean more heavily into the Freudian basics when working with freshmen.

Ah, the issue of personal academic exploration rears its ugly head. Ive read the interpretation of dreams, and civilization and its discontents, but neither was enough to make me language-set familiar enough to just jump into Lacan.

...and then conceptually, Im not sure that somebody that experienced a weak maternal role, and somebody that grew up with food insecurity would function differently when it comes to drives. .....but the next set of lectures might clue me in.

...and while not in any position to critique, I dont let that slow me down, so I'll just put out there that meontology is ontology. There is no possible separation of the two.
