The Abject Analyst
L’étourwhat?! Exactly. And I’m writing to you from the thick of it today, so let me be brief:
Two opening lectures, recorded and delivered this morning to all registered participants. A third lecture already coming into focus — this one on masculine and feminine homophonies. “Nyania,” as they say. And who knows what’ll come next? Don’t forget: this notorious 1972 essay is new to me as well!
Clearly, L’Étourdit stands on its own. But it also reads like a summative statement on Lacan’s renowned 19th seminar, so it only seems appropriate to let you know where our recent series on this seminar wound up — if only to better signal where our summer series on L’Étourdit is about to begin.
To that end, here’s Part 2 of my concluding lecture on Seminar XIXb . . . Or Worse, which I delivered earlier this month as a love letter of sorts to all of the clinicians out there, Lacanian and otherwise. It’s titled “abject little a,” for reasons I hope you’ll enjoy as much as I do. 🫠
