Chapters eight and nine of Seminar XX are wilder than most, in part due to this bizarre triangular diagram:
Which is why I’m delighted to report that Derek Hook will be joining us next week for the penultimate live discussion in our series on Seminar XX — and with the express goal of talking us through this diagram!
If you don’t know Derek, you should — and come Friday, many of you shall. He’s a professor of psychology and clinical supervisor at Duquesne University, co-editor of the Reading Lacan’s Écrits series, co-editor of the Palgrave Lacan Series, and author of many articles and books, including Six Moments in Lacan. His wonderful and ever-wondrous YouTube Channel — an "embarrassment and delight,” he says — is also one of the primary and perennial inspirations for Lectures on Lacan.
I could go on about my friend and colleague — and I just might do so next week — but for now I have some viewing advice instead, compliments of the man himself. Below are links to Derek’s recent “Lacan on Dreams” videos, which start to involve that bizarre triangular diagram in Seminar XX, in anticipation of next week’s get together.
